Found in Evanston, IL
Followers, I have been found. I didn’t know I was lost until I walked into Found on Chicago Avenue. On a cold and brisk Sunday evening, my father and I walked down the street, to Found, in hopes of finding a great dinner. Mission accomplished and then some! Found is amazing. Why?
We ordered sandwiches for dinner. Now, I’m not going to lie, I’m not a sandwich person. Besides a good panini (or the heavenly sandwiches I encountered in Florence for 4 Euro) I don’t subscribe to sandwich worship. There’s nothing wrong with them really, but crust is one of the few things I’m a bit iffy on. However. I decided to go outside my comfort zone, and ordered the Roast Pork Shoulder with Sweet Potato and Mash with Gravy.
Here you see the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten in my life. Ever. No contest. Here is what makes it different:
-Open face sandwich
-gravy and sweet potato mash (never even knew sweet potato mash was a thing. Best new thing ever discovered)
-Tender pork shoulder, instead of plain and boring lunch meat that’s over processed and gross.
I would have loved to get a picture of my dad’s French Dip Sandwich but he ate it way too quickly for me to get one in. Think of that as the ultimate compliment..both our plates were almost completely clean!
Now for dessert, my favorite meal of the day:
My dad ordered the Orange Pound Cake with Meyer Lemon Curd and toasted coconut gelato. Oh yeah, this thing was tasty. Next time I visit Found (there will definitely be many next times, I guarantee it) I am ordering this as my dessert. Knocked my socks off and then some.
Maybe you’re more in the mood for something chocolatey? No worries! Try their Chocolate Pot de Crème with Shortbread and topped with Crème Fraîche. It is not as cloyingly sweet as you may think, because it is covered in a light layer of Sea Salt to offset the chocolate. It adds a great next dimension to the dessert. Highly recommend this!
